It's Winter Recital day and Zoe and Brunson did such a great job! We're so proud of their growth!

After being snowed in for two days, I finally esca

After being snowed in for two days, I finally escaped! Today was Zoe's turn for a solo date with Mommy! We went to an amazing body butter making class with @bodyjamessentials . It was so much more, though. We did a guided meditation to start and then had a beautiful conversation throughout with mindful prompts from our instructor, and ended with intentions and affirmations to carry with us and use daily as we moisturize ourselves with the butters we made.

During the class Zoe said a couple of things that made my heart smile:
1. She calls the voice in her head, a friend with no face. She considers the voice a friend because it speaks good things to her. I'm so happy to hear that her self talk is positive and she trusts herself.
2. She mentioned that she knows not everyone understands her complex ideas and approaches to things, but she is not willing to play small until those people catch up. Listen...women especially struggle with this, but I'm so grateful my Zoe doesn't! I pray she never does.
3. The mantra she will say with intention as she moisturizes is "I will decide my future." I love her ownership and how she connects personal choices to outcomes.

I'll definitely be back...I need to plan a girls night out here!

We ended our date with delicious latin cuisine from @marysolcocinalatina where Zoe gave me all the fifth grade tea. Spoiler alert: it's more like Luke warm water...these kids don't have any tea🤣. Back to the food, we even had two dishes that we enjoyed last year in Peru - crab causa and lomo saltado. But my favorite was the insanely meaty and delicious hen-of-the-woods mushrooms with chimichurri sauce.

I love these one on one dates so much! I can't wait to hang with Ava solo next month!

This #throwbackthursday is in honor of the start of Black History Month! I hope both your travels and at home fun includes intentional learning about this integral part of American History all month and beyond!
