My husband has been trying to get me to go camping for as long as I’ve known him, which means I’ve been saying NO WAY for over ten years. I finally decided to find a way to give him a yes while also keeping in mind who I am – i.e. I’m not sleeping on a ground, peeing in the wild, nor sleeping without climate control. I mean, people didn’t spend their lives inventing all these modern comforts for me to just disregard them, lol.
After some research, I found the perfect place to make both of us happy. The Orr Family Farm in Oklahoma City offered us a unique glamping experience. We had the option of staying in a Conestoga Wagon or a TeePee. We choose the Wagon option, and boy oh boy was it super cool. First and foremost, it was climate controlled…hallelujah! There were also bunkbeds for the kids, and that always makes them happy. Our wagon also included electricity which made it very convenient to keep devices charged.
You may have noticed, however, that the wagon definitely isn’t big enough for a bathroom. Well, no worries, we had our own private bathroom complete with a shower, outside of the tent. The bathrooms were very spacious and also climate controlled, which made the comfort and conveniences consistent. Also, convenient, was the battery operated lantern that comes attached to your bathroom key. It makes those after dark bathroom visits easy to navigate.
Fun Things to Do With Kids While Glamping At Orr Family Farm
The Orr Family Farm property offers so much fun for the kids, and the whole family. For starters, in the middle of both the Wagons and TeePees are huge fire pits for fireside fun. We roasted s’mores and told scary stories late into the night, which led to so many giggles and smiles. The Farm provides all the contents for s’mores (including firewood for the pit), however I would suggest bringing some extra ingredients if your kids are as enthusiastic about sweets as mine are.
There are also several fun games, including bouncing pads, big tricycle mazes, carnival games, lasso station, and oversized yard games like chess, checkers, and puzzles on the property as well. And, I cannot leave out the actual animals. My kids never tire of petting and feeding farm animals no matter how often they’ve done it.
Come Ready To Grill At Orr Family Farms
Each wagon comes with its own personal grill and tables for dining. We prepped all of our meals before arrival. I seasoned up delicious burgers, and make some breakfast burritos. Everything turned out great on the grill. Come prepared with all of your own grilling essentials, as none of that is included.
Overall, we had an absolute wonderful time during our first glamping experience. I went in with low expectations, because I’m not the “rough it” kind of girl. But, it I never felt like I was roughing it, and it was seriously a perfect time. We have plans to return in the Fall (the summer is just a little too hot for me, lol) and this time I’m going to convince my husband to stay in a teepee.
If an Oklahoma trip is on your list, be sure to spend at least a night on the farm.
Happy Travels!

Now, I must try the teepee in Oklahoma! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to take trip there. If you enjoy glamping, maybe you will enjoy Lake Louisa Florida State park [https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/lake-louisa-state-park]. There are cabins and tents (no A/C but beautiful). It’s not far from Orlando. I can’t wait to see the pictures and activities you all share!

Hi, Sheriah! Thanks for the Lake Louisa recommendation! The no A/C scares me, lol, but this may be a great fall trip for us.
