Team Adams landed in Vegas in the crisp February air and had an absolute blast! Anyone who says Vegas isn’t great for families, doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Vegas isn’t just for families, it’s for families of all sizes and composition, including babies.
There are an endless amount of things to do on and off the strip, free and fee based. Here is how we spent our 5 days in Sin City.
Fun Things To Do In Las Vegas With Kids
Live Mermaids at the Silverton Hotel. Just a short ride away from the strip is a large aquarium tank with live mermaids swimming amongst the fish! The twin girls were in awe, but my son immediately let me know “this is fake.” HAHAHA. Despite his accurate assertion, he loved it as much as the girls. The most amazed of them all was the baby, though. She kept looking like…wait a minute, I didn’t know the humans lived in the water. It was so fun to see her little 6 month old eyes seeing something new. When we went it was not crowded at all. The mermaids will even swim to the glass so you can take pictures. And, best of all this is a totally free attraction!
Free Circus Acts at Circus Circus. Do your kids love the circus as much as mine? Well, head toward the end of the strip where you’ll find free acts at Circus Circus every 30 minutes. These aren’t piddly acts either; there was great, quality talent on our visit. We saw a ladder guy, who had the most amazing and gravity defying balancing skills I’ve ever seen in person. And, then a young acrobat who put on a great show while intertwined in chains and hanging from the ceiling. The shows are about 20 minutes in length, which is a perfect sweet spot for little kids. Show up a little before the start time as the seating bleachers will get packed.
Fair Games at Circus Circus. After enjoying the free circus acts, make sure you stay for the games area. Unlike some of the larger casinos, Circus Circus offers a smaller game play area for the kids. There were so many old school fair games that made me nostalgic and gave my kids some big smiles. It’s almost guaranteed that you and your kids will win a prize at every game.
Free Fountain Show At the Bellagio. The iconic fountains put on a must see show throughout the day. Each show is different and set to a different song. I recommend going at night. The lights dancing off the water make it that much more beautiful to watch. My kids wanted to stay there the whole night. After two sets, we had to peel them away.
Go See a Kid Friendly Las Vegas Show. You can’t do Vegas without catching a show. The same is true for the kids. We chose V – The Ultimate Variety Show, which plays at Planet Hollywood. Oh my goodness, if you want to see your kids’ eyes light up and belly laugh, go see V. There are several different acts including a comedian, magician, acrobats, and more. We loved every single set and the host, well, in a word he’s hilarious! Tickets can add up quickly if you have a big family, but it’s really worth it.
Take Pics on The Strip. Las Vegas and The Strip and pretty much interchangeable in my mind. The sights, sounds, lights, and famous backdrop is everything that makes the strip special. We walked, shopped, and had impromptu photo shoots both day and night. Go ahead and get your steps in while snapping those pics.
Zipline on Fremont Street. Fremont Street is quintessential Vegas and has so much to offer in the way of fun and adventure. Since the kids and I love heights and adventure, I knew I had to book ziplining for us. Thankfully all of the kids met the requirments. We laughed and screamed all the way down the line…it was great fun!
Speaking of pictures, make the trek out to Seven Magic Mountains and the Las Vegas Sign to get those classic shots for your photo album.
Lastly, if you want a really magical treat, book an excursion to The Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon West. You can read all about our day trip to Arizona here. It was pure beauty and wonder.
Our five days in Las Vegas were jam packed with fun, but honestly we could have spent 5 more days and still not experienced everything Vegas has to offer. It’s a cool place for families because the fun is endless. Free or pricey, whatever you do in Vegas, just make it fun!!
Happy Travels!
